Snow Much Fun!

What a CRAZY two weeks it has been! Being a teacher, I do look forward to having a few snow days. But 7 days in two weeks...a little strange here in Arkansas! What is even stranger is that we not only had snow two weeks in a row...but 20 inches of snow on Wednesday this week! Okay, for those who do not know..we NEVER see that much snow at one time or even all winter! Yep, we set a new record! It had been like 80 years or something crazy like that since we had a snow like this.

With that said, I thought of the really cool snowflakes that I made to hang in my classroom. My family and I were eating at this local mexican restaurant around Christmas. Hanging from their ceiling were these awesome stars/snowflakes. I asked our waiter if someone had made them. The guy probably thought I was more than a little weird for asking. He told me one of the waiters had in fact made them. Okay...I instantly thought...those would be really cool hanging in my classroom for the winter! I studied them while eating. Before leaving I asked if it was okay if I took a picture. I knew that I could figure out how to recreate them if I had a picture.

Here is the picture I took at the restaurant.

Here are a couple of the snowflakes that I made. I got a little happy making them so I ended up with several. I think the blue one is my favorite!

Baby Leggings

I bought these knee high socks in the women's department at Target. I have seen several people make baby leggings out of these. I have been wanted to try this fast, little project for some time now. I thought these would be cute for my daughter to wear under her denim skirt.
Since they had hearts on them, I thought they would be perfect for Valentine's Day!

I apologize for the picture quality. My camera cards are full, so I had to use the camera on my phone.

I started by cutting across through the middle of the heel. I ended up cutting a little more off to make the sock a little straighter.

After cutting the socks, I turned the sock inside out and hemmed it. I had a little trouble sewing on this type fabric, so they are definitely not perfect!

This is the finished product.

I think they turned out super cute! I know that these are called baby leggings, but they fit toddlers too!

Snow Day # 3 & Cake Mix Cookies

I love being stuck inside for a couple of days! To me this means....project time! I have had time to pick up the house, actually cook dinner, play with the kids, and work on finishing a few crafty projects. On my weekends, I am so consumed with the "What needs to be done to start the next week" question that my free time flies by way to quickly.
So yesterday my 2 year old and I baked some cookies! We made Cake Mix Cookies!
There are a ton of recipes out there for these. I just used the one that I found first.
I tend to forget how easy they are!
Here is what you will need:

These cookies turned out great! They were a big hit on a cold, snowy day!

Blogging....TO blog or NOT to blog...???

I have toyed with the idea of blogging for quite some time now. For the longest I have said that blogging was NOT for me! What in the world would I have to blog about!?! Yes, I am a blog reader, but that is much different than actually writing your own blog. I follow many blogs...crafty blogs, blogs about families and kids, etc. Personal/family blogs are out for me; I could never put my personal life out for the world to view. Now, what I decided that I could put out there; is all of my crafty endeavors! I love reading blogs about what other people create and I thought what is one more crafty blog! So from now on I will be posting things I have either created, copied (with links of course to the original), or repurposed.

Georgia Dress

I have been following the blog: http://littlelizardking.blogspot.com/ for probably almost a year now. She creates cute patterns for little girls. She recently posted that she needed pattern testers for this dress. She calls this dress the Georgia Dress. This was my first pattern to ever test. I was not sure that I would be able to give much feedback, but I surprised myself. This is a picture of the dress that I made for my 2 year old.
